Have any of you read the book "The Shack"? I highly recommend it! It may stretch your thinking of God a little but there's more truth in it than some want to admit. We all tend to put God in a box of some sort.

    'tis the season

I love this time of the year....the smells, laughter, lights, decorations, food, music, family, shopping.......there are so many things to be thankful for!!! Let us all remember the real reason we all celebrate this time of the year. We were reminded a couple weeks ago in a message at church of how the 'Christmas' story does not end with the birth of Christ but it's only the beginning. A lot of people like the 'baby' story but fail to reconginze the ultimate reason Christ came. To save us all from ourselves and our sins.

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.  ~Roy L. Smith

I sometimes think we expect too much of Christmas Day.  We try to crowd into it the long arrears of kindliness and humanity of the whole year.  As for me, I like to take my Christmas a little at a time, all through the year.  And thus I drift along into the holidays - let them overtake me unexpectedly - waking up some find morning and suddenly saying to myself:  "Why, this is Christmas Day!"  ~David Grayson

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.   ~Calvin Coolidge

    Merry Christmas and God Bless!!!!

The Road to Unafraid: How the Army's Top Ranger Faced Fear and Found Courage through
    By Jeff Struecker
    see related

I came across this while surfing the 'net. It's a little lengthy but worth taking the time to read.

    Sometimes...

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there,to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson,or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be possibly your roommate, neighbor, professor, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger), but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound way.And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first, but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, whatever they may be,
life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life, and the success and downfalls you experience, help to create who you are and who you become. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to when you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.

    Make every day count...

Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you. You can make of your life anything you wish.

Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.
Most importantly, if you love someone tell them, for you never know what tomorrow may have in store. And learn a lesson in life each day you live.

Sigh......I was going to try and load some pictures but the camera stayed at home.......

I get a text everyday from a friend in Colorado (some of you get them as well) and they are random thoughts that he gets out of a book (or at least that's where he used to get them). Some of them are real challenges. Here are a few.....

It has been my observation that people are just about as happy as they make up their mind to be ---Abraham Lincoln

We only grow by coming to the end of something and by begining something else.

Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go.

Usefulness is not impaired by imperfection. You can drink from a chipped cup.

Don'y try to find truth within yourself; you're the one who is confused.

Don't tell others how to live! Live...and let them watch you do it.

    Have a wonderful weekend....

There is a God by 33 Mile

There is a beauty to the dawn, a rhythm to the rain
A silence in the soul that I just can't explain
There is a breath of life I breathe, a beating in my heart
A magnificence, a scary sense of what lies past the stars
Beyond what we can see behind the mystery
I know that it could only be

There is a debt that has been paid, a grace that I've been shown
A hope that I've been given that I have never known
There is a love that conquers darkness a piece of life in me
There is a life that is not just here and now but for eternity
Beyond what we can see behind the mystery
I know that it could only be that

There is a God; this is the proof
That all around the evidence is speaking the truth
From the center of my soul to the edge of the universe
Creation is crying out believe it or not
    There is a God

I believe it; I believe it
    There is a God
I can feel it; I can feel it
    There is a God
And the more I find the less I need to see
I've never been so sure, so sure of anything

Quiet Strength: The Principles, Practices, & Priorities of a Winning Life
    By Tony Dungy, Nathan Whitaker
    see related

Hey there......I tried updating last week but the internet connection here at the coffee shop was nonexistent and very frustrating!! Here I am again....Dwayne dropped me off on his way to class. It works out well. Life is good...it's hard to believe it's '08 already!!! Work is going well. I filled in at the church office a couple days over the past two weeks while Brenda was in Honduras. Made for a busy couple of weeks and I felt it (as did my husband and the house) after being gone six days out of the week. Today I was at home all day and got a lot accomplished. When I told Dwayne that I hadn't left the place all day and he asked if I was feeling okay.

Time has a way of getting away from us and thus becomes more valuable each day. Since the first of the year we have attended a wedding and two funerals (with another one we couldn't attend). What kind of legacy are we leaving behind? What would people remember the most about you? Just something I think about a lot.

There's a new song out that I really like....here it is.

    I Believe In Love
How long will my prayers seem unanswered?
Is there still faith in me to reach the end?
I'm feeling doubt I'm losing faith
But giving up would cost me everything
So I'll stand in the pain and silence
And I'll speak to the dark night

I believe in the sun even when it's not shining
I believe in love even when I don't feel it
And I believe in God even when He is silent
    And I, I believe

    Though I can't see my story's ending
That doesn't mean the dark night has no end
It's only here that I find faith
And learn to trust the One who writes my days
So I'll stand in the pain and silence
And I'll speak to the dark night

    No dark can consume Light
No death greater than this life
    We are not forgotten
Hope is found when we say
    Even when He is silent

Next time I want to post some random pictures.....until then......have a wonderful week and be all God wants you to be.

    The Lost Christmas Eve
    By Trans-Siberian Orchestra

I am sure you all have heard this song before but for me it's what Christmas is all about.

    The Christmas Shoes

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
    He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
    Mama's gonna look so great

    I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about.

    Merry Christmas!

No Wonder They Called Him Saviour
    By Max Lucado

This song came across the radio this morning as I was going to work. It once again reminded me of our wonderful Saviour. Have a wonderful day.......

    Amazing grace
    How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
    And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
    The hour I first believed

    My chains are gone
    I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
    Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
    His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
    As long as life endures

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
    The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
    Will be forever mine
    Will be forever mine
    You are forever mine
